Week 1 - Homework

Scripture to Memorize

“Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of worldly* wealth,
who will entrust the true riches to you?”

(Luke 16:11)

* The word worldly from the New International Version has been substituted for the word unrighteous from the New American Standard Bible to clarify the meaning of this passage.

How we handle money impacts our relationship with the Lord.

In addition to memorizing the listed Scripture and completing the Homework section, read the Notes section prior to the first meeting. In the Crown Money Map,™ review the section of the map called "Prepare for the Journey" and complete the steps indicated.

Crown recommends Chuck Bentley's book The Worst Financial Mistakes in the Bible as optional reading for this study. Prior to Week 1, we suggest you read Chapters 1 and 2 in the book. By reading two chapters each week, you will complete the entire book by the end of this study. We also invite you to sign-up for Crown's daily devotional called God is Faithful (crown.org/resources/god-is-faithful-daily-devotional).

After you complete the homework for this lesson, watch the Week 1 video at the bottom of this section.

Sometime this week, make sure to buy a set of index cards or a notebook small enough to carry with you. Starting with week 2, part of your homework will be to record every income and expense.

Read Isaiah 55:8-9

Read Luke 16:11
